Inspired by the artist’s love of vintage textiles and his unrivaled approach to peerless clothing customization, his surgical clothing aesthetic envelopes a bespoke skull, stitched together in a Japanese boro cloth-like style. Different fabric sections of the skull are sewn on and peeled off, Dr. Romanelli’s piece evolving through different looks, referencing the history of the boro fabric, one that saw the re-imagining and re-using of materials to create something that represents both new and tells the tale of what came before, the generational storybooks of textile history.
